Special Projects and Props
This big fellow wasn't a
mascot, but the project taught us a great deal about patterning
large pieces of foam. The completed project was about 24 feet long and
was displayed for over a year. He had a plastic foam partial skeleton
for support, and hung from several thin wires in a large department
store. The "skin" was half-inch upholstery-backing foam. It had a thin non-woven fabric glued
to the "inside" surface, which, when used inside-out and painted with latex colors, gave him an
interesting and believable skin texture.
